To Start...
Just a little Riff
So here we are. Sitting in a coffee shop on Roanoke Island in the Outer Banks North Carolina, roughly 2000miles from my home state. Since arriving here a week or so ago I have been trying to decide what to begin writing here. What would be interesting to people? I cannot be sure, and also don’t particularly desire to write solely for the enjoyment of others, so I wont! Hopefully the content I start creating here will be as interesting to others as it is to me. So far I decided on a couple different topics to cover; one being my idea for a book series that I would like to start writing, as well as writing different philosophical questions and debates that go on in my head. hopefully the latter will encourage healthy, useful contemplation and discourse. One can only hope. Last thing, food for thought for now…Why is philosophy not a part of high school curriculum? It seems to me, philosophy encourages and helps to grow critical thinking, problem solving, a myriad of essential life skills. So why is it that we only ever cover it when going to college or deciding for yourself to study it? Personally I believe having a higher percentage of the population, which are capable of critical thinking and problem solving creates a healthier more intelligent and more successful human being. I ask again, why is this not taught to American children in high school?
The more intelligent a population, the harder they are to control. The harder they are to lie to. The harder they are to trick. This is why in my opinion we send our children out into the world without these essential skills, those in power would do anything to keep it including turning the world into a real life “Idiocracy”.
